Tanisha J. Hall, AICP, TDM-CP

Founding Principal & CEO

Tanisha J. Hall is the Founding Principal & CEO of Fairpointe Planning, a MWDBE-certified management consulting firm focused on community and statewide transportation planning. Tanisha is a dynamic and innovative leader with a strong track record of developing “people-first” strategic plans by engaging diverse stakeholders early in the planning process.

Tanisha leads a dedicated team providing policy, strategic planning, data collection, analysis and visualization tools, and stakeholder, and community engagement services to rural and urban communities through multimodal transportation plans.

Before founding Fairpointe Planning, Tanisha served as Director of the Tennessee Department of Transportation’s (TDOT) Long Range Planning Division. She was responsible for an annual $52 million budget used to develop the 25-year Long Range Transportation Policy Plan, the Statewide Freight Plan, develop a new travel demand model, enhance the statewide transportation research program, enhance traffic and travel data collection through new technology, Metropolitan and Rural Planning Organization coordination, Congestion Mitigation and Air Quality (CMAQ) and improve GIS using the latest data visualization techniques. Her team developed a statewide transportation demand management program under her direction and expanded TDM programs across the state. She led a multi-organization grant preparation team to a $71 million USDOT INFRA award to improve the region’s busiest freight corridor.

Tanisha is the President of the Southeast Chapter of the Association of Commuter Transportation (SEACT) and in the inaugural class of certified Transportation Demand Management professionals. She is a member of the American Planning Association, maintaining her professional certification for over 20 years, Chair of Transportation Research Board’s (TRB) Special Committee on DEI, and a Nashville Civic Design Center board member. As past-president of the Women’s Transportation Seminar- Middle Tennessee Chapter, Tanisha led efforts to revive the organization focused on women’s advancement in transportation. She is also a charter member and Vice President of the Conference of Minority Transportation Officials’ Nashville Chapter. Lastly, when not working or volunteering, Ms. Hall enjoys spending time with her family in their backyard homestead where she keeps chickens and honeybees and maintains an organic garden.
