Jim McAteer, AICP, leads Fairpointe’s Transit Planning projects with a focus on results-oriented planning. Jim has worked in the transportation industry in Nashville for over 22 years. He brings a broad range of experience to the team, having worked for a city planning department, metropolitan planning organization (MPO), local and regional transit agencies, as well as private consulting. Jim has managed all aspects of Transit System Planning, including the development and implementation of Strategic Plans, Peer Analysis, Demographic and Rider Research and Analysis, Comprehensive Operations Analyses, Customer Satisfaction and Origin-Destination Surveys, as well as implementation of Bus Rapid Transit Lite, Alternative and NEPA analyses, Preliminary Engineering, and Final Design for major corridors.

Jim is a regular transit rider here in Nashville and previously served as the Director of Planning and Grants at Nashville MTA/RTA (now WeGo). He has extensive knowledge of transit issues and is passionate about growing transit ridership and improving mobility for all.
